The Alice Springs Show is proud to introduce the Young Farmer Challenge for the very first time in 2026 — bringing together young people from across Central Australia to test their practical station skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience in a fast-paced agricultural competition.

Designed to celebrate the future of Australian agriculture, the Young Farmer Challenge is a hands-on event where competitors race against the clock to complete real-world farming tasks inspired by everyday life on the land.

What is the Young Farmer Challenge?

The Young Farmer Challenge is a team-based agricultural competition that combines physical challenges with practical farming knowledge.

Competitors move through a series of timed stations, completing tasks that reflect the realities of working in agriculture and remote Australia. Challenges may include:

• Fence building and repairs
• Water and irrigation tasks
• Feed and produce identification
• Ag-based problem solving
• Team relay events
• General rural knowledge challenges
