Experience the skill, horsemanship and grit of the Australian stockman at the 2026 Stockman’s Challenge, proudly held at the Alice Springs Show.

This exciting event showcases the real-life abilities used on cattle stations across Central Australia. Competitors and their horses will demonstrate their stock handling, control and riding skills through a series of challenging phases designed to test precision, partnership and practical station work.

Riders will compete across multiple classes, including Children (12 Years & Under), Junior, Encouragement and Open, making it an event for both emerging young riders and experienced horsemen and women.

Each class will feature a combination of phases including:

• Hack / Dry Work Pattern – showcasing control, balance and horsemanship.

• Mechanical Cow Phase – testing cattle-handling instincts and accuracy.

• Challenge Course – a practical station-style obstacle course.

• Novelty Event (Children’s class) – a fun and engaging test for young competitors.
